Thanet Swim School offers a swimming lesson programme from babies through to adults at both its Hartsdown Leisure Centre and Ramsgate Swim Centre. With ASA qualified instructors, our courses will provide a sound foundation for every pupil's swimming progression into other aquatic activities whether they are competitive or recreational.

Our Swim School follows the ASA National Plan for Teaching Swimming for levels one to seven. Courses are ten weeks long, generally avoiding the school holidays, and the swimmers are assessed towards the end of each course ready to progress to the next level.

Entry into swim school is either through the Under 5s programme or from a water assessment aimed at ensuring your child's correct placement within the programme.

Adult/Child & Baby Splash

Children from five months old are welcome with their parents at either our structured Adult & Child classes or informal Baby Splash sessions. These sessions are designed to promote water confidence and develop early motor skills in the children, and will also show parents useful activities to practise whenever they come to the pool.

Under 5s/Ducklings

For children between the ages of three and five we offer Under 5s classes which follow the 'Ducklings' award scheme. These lessons are held during school term times and act as an excellent preparation for entering the main lesson programme once they have started full time school .

Adult Learn to Swim

But it's not just restricted to the kids! Swim School offers lessons for adults too. From complete beginners through to improvers and, for those who wish to train regularly, the Thanet Masters.

Crash Courses

We run a number of intensive crash course during the Summer break. These are aimed at building confidence and can supplement our term time swim school programme and your child's swimming development. These session run Monday to Friday in blocks of 5 daily ½ hour lessons.
