DOVER TOWN HALL MANAGEMENT CONTRACT AWARDED
Following a comprehensive tendering exercise, Dover District Council has awarded the contract for the whole site management of Dover Town Hall to Thanet Leisureforce Limited as from 3 November 2003.
Thanet Leisureforce Limited is an Industrial and Provident Society which is described as a social enterprise for the benefit of the community. They currently manage and operate the Winter Gardens in Margate in partnership with Thanet District Council.
Peter Hooker, Managing Director of Thanet Leisureforce Limited, said: "I am delighted with the news of the award and look forward to working in partnership with Dover District Council to upgrade and improve the facility over the five year contract period. We are an organisation with a reputation for adding value by reinvesting surpluses into the service and bringing a new passion and energy into the market place.
"We will focus early on in the contract on those things which will assist us to optimise usage of the Town Hall as a venue for conferences, weddings, parties and exhibitions as well as looking to delivering a programme of public entertainment providing shows and named stars who will draw an audience into the Town Centre.
"We aim to see Maison Dieu become a venue for all the family to enjoy and for the business community of Dover and the surrounding districts to use whenever it has a need for a flexible venue which can provide banqueting, conference and meetings facilities, exhibition space, gala evenings and party events."
