"Leisureforce declared WINNERS at FIA Commit to Get Fit National Award for Second Year running"
Following on from the success of 2004 Thanet Leisureforce have for the second year running been named as the Winners of the FIA Award for Excellence.
The awards recognised the outstanding achievement within the leisure industry from both the private and public sectors with more than 500 (522) centres and clubs from across the country taking part. The awards are one of the industry's most prestigious accolades and reward companies and operators of facilities in the work that they have achieved throughout the National Commit to Get Fit Campaign in bringing Health and Fitness to the Community.
The Award for Excellence was presented to Thanet Leisureforce at the prestigious FIA Awards ceremony in London, beating off competition from across the country including many large corporate organisations and private health clubs. While other awards recognise a specific area of achievement, the Award for Excellence recognises the whole campaign taking into account numbers enrolled, fundraising achievements, innovative ideas and expansion on the previous year's campaign together with meeting both the FIA's personal goal and national government's objectives of 'more people, more active, more often'.
Thanet Leisureforce Operations Manager, Warren Reeves said……..
"This is another great reward for the team and again puts Thanet on the map. Last year was the first time that a local leisure operator was recognised as being up there with the best and now with the Award for Excellence in 2005 we can DEMONSTRATE that Thanet Leisureforce can DELIVER good, quality operations".
He went on to say "Not only did we beat off tough competition and run the most successful campaign to date but also achieved some considerable personal and national achievement. Our Fundraising efforts made up over 20% of the national fundraising total with more than £6000 going to The Cystic Fibrosis Trust from Thanet and we got more than 700 people involved in changing their lifestyles and becoming more active, indeed we really met the FIA's slogan of 'more people, more active, more often'….
Jo Carnell-Holdaway, Fundraising Manager for Kent Branch of Cystic Fibrosis said "Considering how many leisure facilities and gyms took part across the country it is incredible that Thanet Leisureforce raised over 20% of the national total. This is a fantastic achievement and one that Cystic Fibrosis can only thank Thanet Leisureforce and all their staff for. Well-done and thank you"
Peter Hooker Managing Director added "This has only been achieved through the hard work and dedication of Warren Reeves and his staff together with the support from our customers who have really got behind this year's campaign and I would personally like to thank all those that got involved. Thanet Leisureforce are already working on some new initiatives for 2006 and aim to put ourselves up there competing with the best in the industry and hope to score a hat trick for THANET" |
